About me
Jessica was very fortunate to spend four years as a 6th Grade Reading & Writing teacher at McMicken Heights Elementary. She is currently transitioning to 7th Grade Reading & Writing at Glacier Middle School. Throughout her years at McMicken, she was fortunate to focus purely on literacy. She acquired a vast array of knowledge and literacy strategies under the leadership of her principal as well as through numerous coaching cycles with literacy coaches. Her work with coaches focused on topics including and not limited to small group mastery cycles, teaching students to teach other students, and increasing text complexity by building background knowledge. She has read numerous professional texts around the topics of engagement and equity in the literacy classroom, and has focused primarily on student growth through small group cycles. She is passionate about reading and writing, and feels fortunate every day to get to share her love with her students.
